Memories

My first-ever Inferno show or punk show of any kind. They were playing two Hallowmas shows that year and this was the all-ages one. Had my first stagedive during Weimar and handed my crown-of-barbed-wire to Jack shortly before jumping; seemed appropriate at the time but the video indicates that it was sort of a pain in the ass and he struggled to figure out what to do with it. I was in a creative nonfiction writing class at the time and turned in a lengthy piece about these Hallowmas shows, and when my classmates read it they accused me of being on drugs. Granted, I didn't go out of my way to mention that the giant cat was a puppet. - Suzy P

On my birthday (October 23rd), Brainy texted me to ask my plans for the week. I assumed he wanted to give me a birthday present. Instead he trapped me in Rat and Kit's attic and had me make a giant Pumpkin, Cat, and Ghost. They fed me steak, bagels, and pumpkin beer every day, so I can't technically complain. -Danielle

I went as “raining cats and dogs,” and I had stuffed cats and dogs falling off of me the whole walk over to the venue. They hung trick-or-treat-style pumpkin baskets from the ceiling and just the right height that crowd surfers could pull them down, so I ate like a king. Well, a king who really likes candy. I tried distributing some of it, but everyone just started throwing it instead of eating it, so I got upset and just hoarded it all. -D¢

Met Johnny Midnite and Big Jon of Chicago for the first time walking into the venue — Johnny literally pointed at me in a menacing fashion and exclaimed, “YOU!!!!!!” — and it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Also met Suzy in the crowd! I just notice I'm in the picture of the giant ghost, dressed as the calavera catrina with a plunging neckline… — Margot (hubba hubba)

I had a housewarming party between the shows. My place was basically a warehouse of boxes. It was supposed to be on the roof but it was cold and rainy. I had about 30 people over and there was no room for anyone since I hadn't unpacked. We ordered thai food. - Doug G.

It warmed my heart that, after Big Jon met me, he checked my name off of a list. Meant a lot that someone actually wanted to meet me based on the inane shit I said on the internet. - [Leeah Swift]

The day before this show I went to Bike Kill and weirded out all the crusty bike kids from Minneapolis who attended because they always thought I was a square. This leads into hallowmas because after it was all over I hung out with Chris Walsh and Amy and when to Amy's house to crash on her couch while watching a Vincent Price movie. She gave me an integral part of my costume. I woke up the next morning at 5 am and it was Halloween and I walked back excited through the chill to Marchena's house while listening to Red Ripped Shirt on my CD player. Nanuchka has become since my first Hallowmas a sort of pre-Hallowmas playlist, but that's a different story. I got back to Marchena's basement loft room apartment and donned my corset, dress etc, (this one being the first I went to in drag), did some of my make up then had help adding the touch ups. We did drugs then walked to the Brooklyn Bowl and hung out outside before the show started. When we got in, Mr Walsh and I went to the men's room and redid our make up, I lent him some eye liner.

The show was a hazy blur of drinks and dancing, and during one of the

sets I stage dove to Models. After this show was over we walked to Dougs for the… (con.)—Drew Entropy
